There is nothing better than knowing exactly what is going into your food. This chili seasoning is a staple in my kitchen because it avoids all the hidden fillers you often find in store bought packets, and it lets you control the heat level for your family.

I recommend making a double batch and keeping it in a sealed jar in your pantry. It stays fresh for months and saves you so much time on busy weeknights when you want to get dinner on the table fast.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Measure all the spices out and place them into a small mixing bowl.

  2. 2

Use a small whisk or a fork to stir everything together until the colors are uniform.

  3. 3

Store the mixture in a small airtight glass jar or a spice container.

  4. 4

Use 2 to 3 tablespoons of this seasoning for every pound of meat or beans when making your chili.

💡 Tips

Store your seasoning in a cool and dark place to keep the flavors strong. If you want a milder chili for the kids, you can leave out the cayenne pepper entirely.
