Nani’s Easy Cinnamon Baked Apples
These tender, spiced baked apples are the perfect cozy treat for a chilly autumn day.
recipesbynani.comWhen the weather starts to cool down, there is nothing I love more than the smell of cinnamon wafting through my kitchen. These baked apples are a simple way to capture that cozy fall feeling without spending all afternoon at the stove.
My favorite trick is to use a sturdy apple like a Honeycrisp or Granny Smith because they hold their shape perfectly while getting nice and tender in the oven.
🧺 Ingredients
- 4 large firm apples like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup hot water
👩🍳Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2
Wash the apples and remove the cores, making sure to leave the bottom intact so the juices do not leak out.
- 3
Place the apples upright in a small baking dish.
- 4
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together.
- 5
Spoon the sugar mixture into the center of each apple and place a small cube of butter on top of the sugar inside each hole.
- 6
Pour the hot water into the bottom of the baking dish to keep the apples moist.
- 7
Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
- 8
Let them cool for a few minutes before serving warm with a spoonful of the juices from the pan.
💡 Tips
These are delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days and reheat them in the microwave.
