Easy Mongolian Beef Copycat
Enjoy a restaurant quality meal at home with this tender beef coated in a sweet and savory sauce.
recipesbynani.comThis Mongolian beef is one of my favorite quick dinners because it is just as good as the version you get at a restaurant. It features tender strips of beef with a crispy edge, all tossed in a sticky sauce that the whole family will love.
You can serve this over a bed of steamed rice or alongside some stir fried veggies for a complete meal. It is surprisingly simple to make, so you can have dinner on the table in less time than it takes to get takeout.
🧺 Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, sliced thin against the grain
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- Green onions for garnish
👩🍳Instructions
- 1
Toss the beef slices in cornstarch until each piece is lightly coated.
- 2
Heat a large skillet over medium high heat with a little oil. Cook the beef in batches until browned and crispy on the edges, then remove it from the pan.
- 3
In the same pan, add the ginger and garlic and cook for about thirty seconds until fragrant.
- 4
Whisk together the soy sauce, water, and brown sugar, then pour it into the pan.
- 5
Let the sauce bubble and thicken for a few minutes.
- 6
Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and toss well to coat every piece in the sauce.
- 7
Serve warm, garnished with sliced green onions.
💡 Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can reheat this quickly in a pan over medium heat with a splash of water to loosen the sauce. Serve with extra steamed rice or noodles to soak up all that yummy flavor.
