When my schedule is packed, I always turn to my crockpot for help. This recipe brings together tender chicken, savory marinara, and rich Alfredo sauce to create a dinner that everyone in the family will reach for seconds of. It is truly one of the simplest ways to get a warm meal on the table without spending all evening in the kitchen.

My biggest tip is to boil your pasta separately just before you are ready to eat. This ensures the noodles stay perfectly al dente and do not get mushy while sitting in the slow cooker. If you want a little extra heat, feel free to toss in a pinch of red pepper flakes before serving.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 jar (24 ounce) marinara sauce
  • 1 jar (15 ounce) Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 16 ounces cavatappi pasta

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Lightly spray the inside of your crockpot with non stick cooking spray.

  2. 2

Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.

  3. 3

Add the salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Parmesan, marinara, and Alfredo sauce on top of the chicken.

  4. 4

Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours, making sure the chicken reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit and shreds easily.

  5. 5

Once cooked, remove the chicken to a cutting board, shred it with two forks, and place it back into the crockpot.

  6. 6

Boil your pasta in a separate pot according to the package directions until al dente, then drain.

  7. 7

Add the cooked pasta and the mozzarella cheese to the crockpot.

  8. 8

Stir everything gently to combine, cover, and let it heat for 5 minutes until the cheese is beautifully melted and bubbly.

💡 Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, add a tiny splash of milk or water to the pasta to loosen up the sauce as it can thicken in the fridge.
