Crispy Air Fryer Onion Rings
These onion rings are perfectly crunchy and golden without the hassle of a deep fryer.
recipesbynani.comThere is something so satisfying about biting into a crunchy onion ring. I love making these in the air fryer because they get that perfect texture without all the heavy oil and mess of deep frying in a pot on the stove.
These are wonderful as a side dish for your favorite burger or just as a tasty snack to share with friends. My top tip is to make sure your onion slices are uniform so they all finish cooking at the same time.
🧺 Ingredients
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced into half inch rings
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
👩🍳Instructions
- 1
Set up three shallow bowls for your breading station. In the first bowl, add the flour, garlic powder, paprika, and salt. Place the beaten eggs in the second bowl and the panko breadcrumbs in the third bowl.
- 2
Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture until coated, then shake off any excess.
- 3
Dunk the floured ring into the egg, making sure it is fully covered.
- 4
Press the onion ring firmly into the panko breadcrumbs so they stick to all sides.
- 5
Place the coated rings in a single layer in your air fryer basket, making sure they do not overlap too much.
- 6
Lightly spray the tops of the onion rings with cooking spray.
- 7
Cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
💡 Tips
These are best eaten right away while they are fresh and crispy. If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to bring back the crunch.
