Creamy Sausage Baked Tortellini
This comforting baked tortellini is a hearty meal that the whole family will love.
recipesbynani.comBaked tortellini is one of my favorite go to meals for busy weeknights. It combines pillowy cheese tortellini with savory sausage and a rich tomato sauce that comes together beautifully in the oven.
My best tip for this recipe is to make sure your sauce is not too thick before baking. If it looks dry, add a splash of water or broth to keep the pasta tender as it cooks in the oven.
🧺 Ingredients
- 1 pound cheese tortellini refrigerated or frozen
- 1 pound Italian sausage casings removed
- 1 jar 24 ounces marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- Fresh basil for garnish
👩🍳Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until it is fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- 3
Stir the marinara sauce, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning into the skillet with the sausage.
- 4
Add the tortellini to the sauce and stir until the pasta is well coated.
- 5
Transfer the mixture to a baking dish if your skillet is not oven safe, or simply leave it in the pan.
- 6
Top everything with the mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- 7
Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- 8
Let it rest for five minutes before serving with a sprinkle of fresh basil.
💡 Tips
Serve this dish with a crisp green salad and some crusty garlic bread to soak up the extra sauce. If you have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheat them in the microwave or oven.
