If you are looking for a high protein snack that tastes indulgent, you have to try this whipped cottage cheese. It turns an ordinary tub of cheese into something light, airy, and perfect for dipping fresh veggies or toasted bread.

My top tip for this recipe is to use a food processor or a high speed blender. You really want to whip it for a full minute or two so the texture becomes completely smooth and fluffy, just like a soft cream cheese spread.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cottage cheese
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Extra olive oil and fresh basil for serving

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Place the cottage cheese, fresh basil leaves, garlic clove, olive oil, and lemon zest into a food processor or blender.

  2. 2

Blend the mixture on high speed for about two minutes. Stop to scrape down the sides as needed until the texture is perfectly smooth and creamy.

  3. 3

Taste the dip and stir in the salt and pepper. Adjust the seasoning if you prefer more salt or a little more lemon zest.

  4. 4

Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Drizzle a tiny bit of olive oil over the top and garnish with a few extra fresh basil leaves.

  5. 5

Serve immediately with your favorite crackers, toasted pita bread, or crisp raw vegetables.

💡 Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. This dip is wonderful served cold with sliced cucumbers and bell peppers for a quick afternoon pick me up.
