There is nothing quite like the smell of apples and cinnamon baking in the oven to start your day. My family loves this recipe because it tastes like a treat but is filling enough to get everyone through the morning rush.

My top tip is to assemble this dish the night before. Just pop it in the oven while you get the coffee going and breakfast will be ready before you know it.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 3 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9 by 9 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the oats, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, and melted butter until well combined.

  4. 4

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until everything is moistened.

  5. 5

Gently fold in the diced apples.

  6. 6

Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.

  7. 7

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

  8. 8

Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.

💡 Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can easily reheat individual squares in the microwave for thirty seconds. This dish is great served with a dollop of yogurt or a splash of cold milk on top.
