There is something so satisfying about a bowl filled with fresh flavors and hearty ingredients. These chicken shawarma meatballs are seasoned with warm spices that bring all the classic street food vibes right into your kitchen. They are tender, juicy, and pair perfectly with fluffy rice and a crisp vegetable salad.

I love serving these for dinner because they are so simple to put together. If you are planning ahead, you can bake the meatballs earlier in the day and keep them in the fridge. Just warm them up when you are ready to eat and dinner is served in no time.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 2 cups chopped cucumber and tomato salad
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons warm water

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken with the garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper until well combined.

  3. 3

Shape the mixture into small, bite sized meatballs and place them on your prepared baking sheet.

  4. 4

Drizzle the meatballs with olive oil and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until they are cooked through and golden brown.

  5. 5

While the meatballs bake, whisk together the tahini, lemon juice, and warm water in a small bowl until smooth. Add a splash more water if you prefer a thinner sauce.

  6. 6

To serve, divide the cooked rice into bowls, top with the chicken meatballs, add the fresh cucumber and tomato salad, and drizzle everything generously with the creamy tahini sauce.

💡 Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. These bowls taste great with a side of warm pita bread or a dollop of your favorite hummus.
