5 Ingredient Miso Pasta
This quick pasta dish uses simple pantry items like butter and miso to create a rich and savory dinner in just twenty minutes.
recipesbynani.comI always keep a jar of miso in my fridge for nights when I want a meal that feels special without any hard work. This recipe is one of my favorite ways to use it because the miso melts into the butter and garlic to make a sauce that tastes like it came from a fancy restaurant. It is salty, savory, and so comforting after a long day.
My best advice is to use bucatini if you can find it because those hollow centers soak up all that buttery goodness. If you only have spaghetti or linguine on hand, those work perfectly too. Just make sure to save some of that starchy pasta water to get the texture exactly right.
🧺 Ingredients
- 12 ounces bucatini pasta
- 3/4 cup salted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup miso paste
- 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Furikake or nori flakes for garnish
👩🍳Instructions
- 1
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the bucatini according to the package directions until it is al dente.
- 2
Scoop out one cup of the pasta water before you drain the noodles and set it aside.
- 3
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat and add the minced garlic.
- 4
Cook the garlic for about one minute until it smells fragrant.
- 5
Whisk the miso paste and the saved pasta water into the skillet until the mixture is smooth.
- 6
Add the cooked pasta and the parmesan cheese to the pan.
- 7
Toss everything together until the sauce coats every strand of pasta.
- 8
Serve it immediately with furikake or nori on top.
💡 Tips
Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to five days. When you heat it back up, add a little splash of water or milk to make the sauce creamy again. Since miso is naturally salty, you can skip adding salt to your pasta water.
